Destination ????

We’re finally embarking on the adventure we’ve always dreamed of—traveling without a set plan or destination. It’s been the driving force behind almost everything we’ve done, from our work and savings to our camper renovations and family care.

Initially, we had set our destination as Michigan. However, as we delved deeper into our research and explored various options, we discovered that many of the State Parks and other similar parks would be closed during certain periods of the season. While we were aware of the cold weather, we underestimated the extent to which it would impact the parks. This revelation highlights our tendency to be limited to summer destinations, while winter destinations have consistently been confined to Florida.

We chose a basic direction—northeast toward Tallahassee—and took off. Now, we aren’t newbies, so we did make sure to have a reservation in the area. We had originally chosen Coe Landing just west of Tallahassee but had to cancel as Murphy’s Law was asserting its ugly head. We were frustrated, but not deterred. It actually worked in our favor, as Mother Nature finally flipped a switch. We had great weather for our final packing and a gorgeous day for traveling the 243 miles to Sneads, Florida.

Site 22

Our final destination for the day was Three Rivers State Park. We have two nights at this campground. It’s a peaceful, small campground next to Seminole Lake. There aren’t many campsites, maybe 30. We are in site 22, and it’s quite lovely. What a wonderful first stop. Our first treat here was that the camp ranger called us as we were traveling and let us know our site was ready. That never happens. Then he met us here and showed us our site. The site was fairly easy to back into and is quite spacious. My favorite part is that it backs up to a wooded area full of birds, butterflies, and even a raccoon that tried to steal my drink.

It’s been quiet and very relaxing. We are filled with joy and peace about our decision to finally honor our dreams. We know it’s not for everyone, but for us, this is home. Our home just happens to have a long, long driveway, a changing backyard and many time zones. Three Rivers State Park, by the way, sits right at the edge of the time zone boundary and can’t decide what time it is. And that’s what makes this life exciting.

Toasting our future adventures.
