After a great fail trying to get to Chief Ladiga campground Captain Jim used freecampsites.net and found Cherokee Rock Campgrounds (Alabama.) It wasn’t far from where we were and had promising reviews. Hmmm? Although we did not encounter anymore Bridge Out signs we did have to endure a quite steep, narrow entrance road to the… Continue reading Cherokee Rock
June 7, 2018 Our stop in Midland, Georgia was precipitated by the use of Passport America. We had a mostly pleasant drive (except Columbus) through quiet State highways. We decided to stop at Lake Pines RV and Campground for some much-needed rest. The campground overall is very pleasant. It is fairly clean, however the sites… Continue reading Lake Pines R.V. And campground
Last night we stopped at a county park campground in Bastom, Alabama, called Neal’s Landing. This campground was an unmarked almost free campground. We found it on the site https://freecampsites.net/. We had to use their directions because Google tried to take us somewhere else. That somewhere was an exercise in determination and patience for Capt.… Continue reading Campground Nowhere
Oh My! What do I say about this trip? Wow! As I stated before we are “winging it” this summer. No reservations, just the general direction of North or Northwest as our heading and using camping apps as our guide. “Chief Ladiga!” I exclaimed while viewing Allstays. https://www.chiefladigatrailcampground.com/ https://www.allstays.com/ “I remember seeing information about this… Continue reading Chief Ladiga and Burning Bridges
Another school year done, another summer to begin. This year promises to be quite interesting as we are changing things up a bit. Normally, Capt. (Originally we were to go to Colorado… Continue reading On the Road Again
Tea Birds Cafe http://goo.gl/maps/J6ls7 Father’s day brunch. Haven’t eaten yet but what an interesting place. Ecletic decor in what appears to be an 1800s building. Playing 60s music at a nice conversational friendly volume. LP album covers adorn the wall above original dark wood paneling. The waitresses are very friendly. If the food (breakfast all… Continue reading Tea Birds Cafe
So we are in this little town of Conway, NH, having a refreshing ice-cream break. A steady stream of bikers rumble by. It’s New Hampshire’s version of bike week. For such a small town it is quite busy and a little noisy. But, hey, the ice-cream is delicious!
What a beautiful place. Will post more pictures later. I have to steal moments when I can, like when Jim fills up the generator gas cans. Internet is still so sketchy at these remote campgrounds.
