RV Maintenance: are we in trouble?

Day one of our travel adventure and already experiencing a little maintenance—what a way to kick off our journey! We’ve learned that these moments are simply part of the fun. After a few hours on the road, our excitement began to wane, and our grumbling stomachs urged us to stop. We pulled into the DQ for a well-deserved break, reveling in the anticipation of our delicious treats while balancing our homemade ham sandwiches.

As we enjoyed our meal, a sudden drip from the AC unit caught our attention. Instead of letting it dampen our spirits, we reminded ourselves that these little hiccups are just part of the journey. With our delightful DQ treats in hand, we savored the moment and shook off any worries—we were in this together!

After a few peaceful hours on the scenic highway, we set our sights on Big Oak RV in Tallahassee. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by manager Steve, who remembered us from our last visit. Although the campground was busy, he found us a spot at the back. Despite the challenge of maneuvering around some sizable rigs, Jim, ever the skilled driver, navigated the tight spaces with ease.

While I heated up some delicious homemade egg rolls, Jim cracked open a refreshing beer and tackled the AC issue, as well as flushing and refilling our water tank, which had a rather unpleasant smell this morning. He jumped right in, and in no time, these minor maintenance tasks were behind us. Emergencies are avoided when we take care of things right away! This journey is shaping up to be filled with unique challenges and wonderful stories, reminding us that every twist and turn adds to the adventure.

Reward for a long drive and work yet to do.
You can see that he’s draining the water, flushing out the smelly stuff.
Jim finished with unclogging the water lines in the AC. A sense of accomplishment.
