How would I describe this life in words? I am afraid I cannot do so adequately. The closest I can come is by sharing photos of the moments that bring us such contentment; though they are brief, they will have to suffice.

Looking back at our favorite photos evokes more than just images, color, and light; it recalls the sound of birds chirping in the trees, the sighing of the breeze, and squirrels scampering from branch to branch with nuts as their prize. Sometimes it brings what seems to be utter quiet, if that is even possible, until a nearby train shatters the illusion and we laugh at the absolute absurdity of expecting complete silence.

There are also the smells that stir around us that you just don’t find in the city. For that, I truly do not have words. It is so clean that whenever we cook our favorite foods—today was tacos on the Blackstone—you can clearly distinguish the individual flavors. The aroma travels from campsite to campsite, triggering a ripple effect of hunger pangs. Sorry, neighbors.

While I cannot convey the sounds, the chill on our skin, or the fragrance of the fresh air, I can share color and light. That is the peace we have to offer you.
