After a great fail trying to get to Chief Ladiga campground Captain Jim used freecampsites.net and found Cherokee Rock Campgrounds (Alabama.) It wasn’t far from where we were and had promising reviews. Hmmm? Although we did not encounter anymore Bridge Out signs we did have to endure a quite steep, narrow entrance road to the…

Lake Pines R.V. And campground
June 7, 2018 Our stop in Midland, Georgia was precipitated by the use of Passport America. We had a mostly pleasant drive (except Columbus) through quiet State highways. We decided to stop at Lake Pines RV and Campground for some much-needed rest. The campground overall is very pleasant. It is fairly clean, however the sites…
Flat Tires and Jonathan Dickinson State Park (Old Post, Never Published!)
We headed to Jonathan Dickinson State Park via 95 then in Jupiter switched over to the turnpike. Most of this trip was unevenful except that near Titusville we had a flat tire on the camper. I say flat but truthfully it didn’t go flat. The outer tread was stripped completely off the tire, hanging by…
Campground Nowhere
Last night we stopped at a county park campground in Bastom, Alabama, called Neal’s Landing. This campground was an unmarked almost free campground. We found it on the site https://freecampsites.net/. We had to use their directions because Google tried to take us somewhere else. That somewhere was an exercise in determination and patience for Capt….
Chief Ladiga and Burning Bridges
Oh My! What do I say about this trip? Wow! As I stated before we are “winging it” this summer. No reservations, just the general direction of North or Northwest as our heading and using camping apps as our guide. “Chief Ladiga!” I exclaimed while viewing Allstays. https://www.chiefladigatrailcampground.com/ https://www.allstays.com/ “I remember seeing information about this…
Campsite Numero Uno
After a long sometimes brutally hot day anywhere is nice. We used Passport America to find our first nights stay. We are at Ingram’s Marina and Campground near Quincy, Florida. It’s easy enough to find. Sites are well spread out and seem kept up nicely. The lady at the office was very pleasant and said…
Here we go again.
Two years seem to be all Goodyear tires can give us. Every year we have a flat tire on one side or the other. Last year it was the passenger side, this year driver’s side. Fortunately, a Wal-Mart was nearby. Unfortunately, all they have are Goodyear. Oh well, it’s better than nothing. Next year we…
Cross City Crosses
Taking the country roads has added benefits the highway doesn’t, being able to see American life. Cross City is a small town. It has a nice bike trail and a sense if patriotism. Way to go Cross City.
Roan Mountain Visitor Center
If you visit Roan Mountain, the Roan Mountain Gristmill visitor’s center is a must see. The Gristmill has clean restrooms, a very nice gift shop, some educational areas that kids will especially like and the Mill itself, which has artifacts throughout. Part of the river runs in front of the Vistor’s Center. Fly fishermen were…
Sadler State Park South Carolina June 4th 2017
Sadler State Park turned out to be quite a gem, 395 Acres of beautiful forests on a peninsula of Lake Hartwell (56,000 acres). We stayed on Loop #1, site # 1, a pull through that abutts up to the water. After quickly setting up, little man and I took a walk down to the beach…
